Humanitarian Activities are headed by Jawahir Adam who uses and sets up teams of specialists when necessary

These activities focus on helping refugees, cross-border migrants to become agents of development and not simply aid recipients. Work has been carried out, inter alia, for:

DFID - Assessing the Impact of Zimbabwean migrants on the African Countries - South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia and Malawi (2007-8)

UNDP - Revising the legal framework for war affected women and children in Northern Uganda (2007)

UNDP - Devising better methodologies to help inter-agency coordination (Geneva HQ, 2006)

UNDP - Improving the capacity development of aid coordination in Yemen (2006)

UNDP - Assessing the development needs of IDPs in Azerbaijan (2005)

ILO - Employment strategy for IDPs in Azerbaijan (2005)

IOM - Assessing diaspora and development in Africa (2004)

EU - Evaluating core labour standards application and incorporation in the law in Uzbekistan (2003)

· Los Angeles – June 24th, 2005 : Conference organized Somaliland Policy & Reconstruction Institute, Somaliland: Presentation on clan mentality and its disadvantages.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently works as a consultant on Humanitarian issues mainly with the UN Agencies in Switzerland.
  • Former World Bank staff member for 16 years.
